I’ve always wondered if there are more like me,
hiding under seemingly normal guises of everyday people.
Those who have to temporarily adapt aspects of their personalities to blend in.
Those who feel everything.
Those who sense the feelings of others and can feel their emotions as if they were their own.
Those who are deeply touched by the beauty of the world and see the wonder in everything.
The soft, sensitive souls who care beyond all limits and are disturbed by the world in which we live:
the callous attitudes,
the noise of TV,
the upset related to seeing or sensing aggression,
and a general dislike of what society has become.
I long for a world full of genuine kindness,
not kindness, performed to impress an audience.
I weep for a world where children are safe, protected, and loved,
where animals are treated with respect,
and humanity is demonstrated by acts of love.
A world where possessions and wealth are not important, and success is measured by happiness.
A world where we care for the genuine well-being of others.
A place where we cheer for the success of others as much as our own.
I want a world of harmony and peace where war is a horror story of the past.
Not this world; this is not my world.
