Reiki and Forgiveness

Reiki and Forgiveness

Forgiveness is not about saying what happened was okay.

It is about saying I will not let this pain live in my body anymore.

Reiki can gently support the process of forgiveness because it works where forgiveness often gets stuck — in the heart, the nervous system, and the energetic body.

🌿 How Reiki Supports Forgiveness

1. Calms the emotional charge

When you think of the person or situation and your body tightens, that is stored energy. Reiki helps soothe the nervous system so you can respond from clarity instead of reactivity.

2. Softens the heart chakra (Anahata)

Unforgiveness often creates energetic armor around the heart. Reiki flows through the heart space, gradually dissolving resentment, bitterness, and grief.

3. Releases stored trauma

Sometimes we want to forgive, but the body is still protecting itself. Reiki gently tells the body: You are safe now.

4. Restores your power

Holding onto resentment ties your energy to the past. Forgiveness through Reiki is an act of reclaiming your sovereignty.

✨ Simple Reiki Practice for Forgiveness

1. Place one hand on your heart, one on your solar plexus.

2. Take slow breaths.

3. Invite Reiki to flow.

4. Say softly (or silently):

“I am willing to release what no longer serves my peace.”

“I forgive in my own time and in my own way.”

“I choose freedom.”

Allow whatever emotions arise to move without judgment.

Important Reminder

Forgiveness does not mean:

• Reconciliation

• Trust without accountability

• Accepting mistreatment

• Ignoring boundaries

Forgiveness is energetic release — not relational permission.

And sometimes, the person you need to forgive most… is yourself.

Be gentle with yourself in this process. Forgiveness is not a switch. It is a soft unfolding.

Forgiveness is often talked about as a moral or spiritual choice — but energetically, it is a process of disentanglement.

When someone hurts us, cords form. Not just emotional cords, but energetic ones. These cords are fueled by:

• Replaying the story

• Unspoken words

• Shock or betrayal

• Shame or self-blame

• The need for closure that never came

Reiki helps because it does not force forgiveness. It gently loosens the energetic grip.

🌿 The Energetics of Unforgiveness

When forgiveness feels impossible, it usually lives in one of these centers:

Heart Chakra (Anahata)

Pain, betrayal, grief, sadness.

Solar Plexus (Manipura)

Anger, injustice, powerlessness, humiliation.

Throat Chakra (Vishuddha)

Words never spoken. Truth swallowed.

Sacral Chakra (Svadhisthana)

Emotional wounds tied to intimacy, abandonment, or rejection.

Reiki flows where the blockage is — even if you don’t consciously know where it’s stored.

✨ What Actually Happens During Reiki & Forgiveness

During a focused forgiveness session, people often experience:

• Emotional release (tears, warmth, sighing)

• Memories surfacing for healing

• Sudden clarity

• Compassion — not necessarily for the other person, but for themselves

• Physical sensations like heat in the chest or stomach

This is the nervous system recalibrating.

The body is realizing: The threat is no longer present.

🌿 Forgiveness vs. Suppression

It’s important to distinguish:

• Suppression says: “I shouldn’t feel this.”

• Spiritual bypassing says: “I forgive you” while resentment remains.

• True forgiveness says: “I acknowledge what hurt me, and I choose not to carry it forward.”

Reiki supports authentic forgiveness because it honors emotion instead of silencing it.

🌿 A Deeper Reiki Forgiveness Ritual

You may appreciate something more structured:

1. Sit quietly and call in Reiki.

2. Visualize the person or situation in front of you.

3. Notice where your body reacts.

4. Place your hands there.

5. Say:

“I release you from my energetic field.”

“I reclaim my power and my peace.”

“May we both be free.”

Imagine cords dissolving in light.

If anger rises — that’s okay. Anger is often a guardian of deeper grief. Let Reiki move through both.

🌿 Self-Forgiveness (Often the Hardest)

Many people struggle less with forgiving others and more with forgiving themselves for:

• Staying too long

• Not seeing red flags

• Reacting poorly

• Breaking their own boundaries

Reiki here is incredibly healing because it restores compassion inward.

Place both hands over your heart and say:

“I was doing the best I could with the awareness I had.”

Let that land.

Forgiveness is not a single moment. It’s layers peeling back. And sometimes it returns in waves — and that doesn’t mean you failed.

It means another layer is ready to heal.

Forgiveness is not weakness. It is strength choosing peace over poison.

Through Reiki, you are not excusing the past — you are freeing your future. You are telling your body it no longer has to stay in defense. You are telling your heart it is safe to soften again. You are telling your spirit it deserves to move forward unburdened.

Forgiveness may come in layers. Some days it feels complete. Other days it feels tender again. That is not failure — that is healing.

Let Reiki carry what feels too heavy to hold.

Let your heart unclench in its own time.

Let peace become louder than the pain.

And remember — forgiveness is not about them.

It is about you choosing freedom. 🌿
