Real Healing Isn't Forgetting

For a long time, many of us think healing means erasing the pain.. waking up one day and feeling nothing, like it never happened.
But real healing isn’t forgetting.
It’s being able to face the memory, the scar, and the story, without it controlling how you see yourself anymore.
It’s saying:
“Yes, that hurt me. Yes, it changed me. But it doesn’t name me anymore.”
Healing sometimes looks like:
Sitting with your sadness instead of escaping it. Letting yourself cry, then still showing up the next day. Remembering what happened, but no longer believing it’s all that you are.
You begin to understand that pain can be a chapter, not the whole book.
You can hold both the pain and the hope, the tears and the growth.
And in that space of sitting silently with your pain, you start to find peace.
Healing isn’t about erasing what broke you but about learning that even with the cracks, you’re still whole and still loved. 🌸❤️🩹
