Meditation is a practice

I have many people tell me that the two things that prevent them from having an enjoyable meditation practice is sitting comfortably and their brain not keeping thoughts out. When meditating while seated there are many ways to make your physical body more comfortable such as resting your back against a firm object and keeping your hips above

your knees. Why not sit in a chair, lie in bed or on your sofa? Meditation is not about following preconceived notions of sitting cross legged on a floor for hours? There is value in this type of practice yet there is value in honoring your self in this moment. In regards to thoughts coming and going during your practice that is the practice. Having the awareness that your mind drifted away is mindfulness. Coming back to the breath again and again and again with compassion is the practice!
