Understand that in life,
other people will bring with them their own weather,
but their forecast doesn’t have to dictate your own.
Their own stories,
but their words don’t have to shape your own.
Their own paths,
but their footsteps don’t have to guide your own.
Their own opinions,
but their perspectives don’t have to cloud your own.
Their own expectations,
but their standards don’t have to limit your own.
Their own successes,
but their achievements don’t have to define your own.
Their own limitations,
but their restrictions don’t have to shape your own.
Their own pain,
but their wounds don’t have to scar your own.
Their own fears,
but their doubts don’t have to hold back your own.
Their own noise,
but their chaos doesn't have to disrupt your own.
Their own darkness,
but their shadows don’t have to engulf your own.
Their own passions,
but their fire doesn't have to fuel your own
Their own perspectives,
but their views don’t have to define your own.
Their own voices,
but their words don't have to drown out your own.
Their own values,
but their beliefs don't have to define your own.
Their own identities,
but their labels don't have to confine your own.
Their own goals,
but their ambitions don't have to determine your own.
Their own beauty,
but their standards don't have to become your own.
And their own lives,
but your own choices define your own.
For what other people do has no bearing on you
or how you live your life,
unless you choose to allow it to.
