Trauma-informed yoga is centered on a particular understanding of trauma, one that emphasizes its impact on the entire mind-body system, as opposed to particular mental states. This specific type of yoga, often in addition to other healing modalities, teaches you how to feel and heal the traumatic issues and events in your life while in a safe and nurturing space. The class is developed to move as quickly or slowly as needed, according to your mindset at the moment, to promote awareness and profound healing. If needed we will address the trauma based emotions of fight/flight/freeze to begin to integrate a more positive, productive and calm response to everyday events and opportunities. This soothing class will help balance the nervous system through the use of stimulating and seated postures, while encouraging students to begin noticing feelings of safety, security, value and respect.
