we bloomed
in homeless hearts
petals singed
stems blood-tinged
but
oh, how we bloomed! 🌸

buried beneath their pain
for all the world's unseens...

defying every breath
of their iniquity.
we bloomed
within wombs
of hate-filled hosts
with resentment wounds.
but
oh, how we bloomed!
my darlings
didn't we?
like dandelions
between the sidewalk cracks
stepped on
still...
we always grew back!
